I HATE banks.

my weekend before uni starts...and i still feel holidays aren't over yet!!
so i've been doing the usual dumb tourist act again. this time we went to the london dungeons.wakaka and i've finally got new pics!
so trevor, ben, DL, kelvin and i decided to go check out the famous london dungeon. okay actually it isn't that famous, cos stupid me thought it was the same as the tower of london.ish ish where all the beheading of royalty was. i honestly thought the london dungeon was under the tower of london.the fact that it isn't. the london dungeon is near the london bridge, but the tower of london is somewhere else. everything's phreaking confusing...

one of the statues outside
ben, mua and dl outside the london dungeon..

sighs, i was looking forward to a leisurely walk around the london dungeon checking out all the torture instruments...there's something perversely fascinating about things like that..

but alas...i got crap like this...

this was the closest i could get to torture instruments...

the london dungeon's some disney house of horrors.i felt like i was some amusement park ride....

amusement park example 1 : stupid reflective mirrors and fake tunnel walls..

amusement park example 2 : trevor and i on some boat ride...which i don't even remember what the significance of this boat ride was to london history..

so all in all, we went to the great london fire, the great plague, jack the ripper, sweeney todd(london's most prolific serial killer. 150 victims!)and 18th century court. it was all very weird....i 'm still confused myself..

after that we went for a walk along the thames. when i say walk, i do not mean some voluntary stroll around the river, it was more like taking the scenic route..and getting our 'bearings'.ppfffttt...

this time the route really was scenic...

somehow ended up in soho and leicester square at night. wakaka since ben was kinda familiar in london, wanted to show me the 'real' soho. apparently soho was this notorious red light district before the big clean up to become the fashionable clubing area it is today. but there is one street which survived the clean up. greater windmill street. topless bars, porn shops....haha but it was a new experience..

and there's this new thing around london which i find totally incomprehensible...

trishaws on london!!
mmmm.....didn't know london had bmx bike trishaws back in the 18th century...
you see so many of these around china town...guys in jeans biking around???!!!

so started my classes today. i'm taking european law, public law, contract law and mmmmm.....criminal law...bleh...i wish i was still on holidays...

it's so weird. i expected to be amazingly busy, but so far i've been really free. mostly orientaion's all about partying and drinking...what happened to culture?? west end musicals?? huhu....nevermind, i've got a whole year for that. tired to go to some musuems on tuesday. the tate, national art gallery and the national potrait gallery.
ahh...the world famous tate gallery of abstract art. i so do not have appreciation for abstract art. there was this huge canvas some artist painted red.another was some wooden stick guy which the artist proclaimed represented the "vast loneliness of men". there was this video which i don't know what was considered art. so weird...it was this 15 minute phreakin video of a seaside at nightime and there was a light that just kept on passing by. at first david *the guy i was with* were phreaking wondering what the hell we were staring at the enclosed darkened room..then the video switched to this light house and zoomed it to the lights. hmmmm..i damn pity the guy whose job is to sit there and take care of the reel. mayhaps my mind isn't as culturally developed to appreciate the aspects lighthouse art.

of course the national art gallery was soo much better. there were real paintings by botticelli, rapheal, michealangelo, da vinci. superbly exciting. i saw the painting at the beginning of desperate housewives..of the man and wife. it's by some dutch artist. suppose i shall be paying that place a visit again.really one can wander for hours in the national art gallery...wakaka...sadly i was in a hurry that day..

the national potrait gallery was pretty alright. if one doesn't mind looking at faces all the time. somehow i ended up in the 18th-19th century floor. what's more fun than looking at dead people's faces right? i mostly had fun playing with the computers there. it showed the prince regent *prince henry the 4th?* and his many laisions. 1 guy and 13 wives/mistresses. everything there is so high tech!! the computers are touch screen. plus i got a fantastic history lesson on houses that ruled england..right now it's the house of windsor. bleh..

anyways,in the evening, since we were in the vicinity of leceister square we went to check out the premier of the children of men at the odeon. apparently, clive owen and micheal caine were supposed to make an obligotary appearence *well it was their film*. so being inexperienced red carpet groupies, david and i stood there waiting...and waiting..huhu...there were seasoned red carpets groupies, professional autograph hunters..people who collect auographs as a hobby. one little chinese man was showing off brandon routh's signature.. so they came...clive owen looks smaller in real life but really HOT...and micheal caine looks...old ? :P too bad julianne moore wasn't there..sob sob...

huhu...due to the over aundance of UCL peope in my hall, i someow ended up sneaking into one of their parties. wakaka so basically spent the whole night telling people i was from singapore taking law.it was loads of fun tho..i hate to admit..more fun than the king's one. apparently king's and ucl are rivals..etc etc sighs, i should have applied for ucl..seriously, the people there are friendlier, but the king's girls are hotter. wakaka and i'm not talking about me. honest i swear...^_^

toodles for now..:P

Finally i can breathe again...
my first post in the uk. I was dead worried that my place wouldn't have internet; turns out i could just plug it in and use it!!
i haven't really been doing much in london since it's so amazingly big.unlike kl, london can just swallow you up. so i do get a bit apprehensive going out on my own.
wakaka..my first venture out and i got lost. since i had to go to the strand campus for my orientation, i *dumb dumb* tried to go there using the tube. bleh, everyone says it's like damn convienient, which it is, only i so totally wasn't used to it. besides, it's much easier using the bus from where i'm from.
damn sheet man, so after wandering around king's cross for a while, maybe aboutt half an hour, and not knowing which place to transit, i did try to ask some people, but after a while i just gave up since i didn't have a clue where to go and my orientation was in a half hour.so i ended up trying to buses.
the thing about uk buses is that you have to buy the ticket at the bus stop *there are ticket dispensers for that*. but the stupid thing is none of them works!!
so i couldn't get my ticket...and i couldn't get my oyster card*something like touch and go* since i was running late for my appointment...
it came to a point where i totally gave up. so i went back to my hall to get the exact location of the strand from my place.ish ish which i was doing the whole time trying to memorize the directions, but reading maps isn't my forte...wakakaka....
in the end, somehow finally i managed to find blardy strand!! after 1 1/2 hours when it's like mmmm 2km from my freaking place!!
after a nice kl nanny who could only converse in cantonese and mandarin..
after asking directions from like a gazillion people...
i hate this helpess feeling. it really irritates me.only vaguely knowing where i'm going.. the first thing i'm going to do this weekend is to explore the neigbourhood!!

anyways people here are pretty friendly, wakaka but it's almost impossible to find people who i can truly click with...
seriously these past two years, i've been spoilt for choice chilling with people i love and can relate to. here, bleh...small talk all the way. not that i have problems with small talk, but it'll be awesome to find someone who "knows" you..wakaka thank god for msn video!!
I MISS YOU guys Phreaking much..
i miss my car to...huhuhu...

anyways, i ended up chillin with some people from hong kong. they're really nice and all, but being ex-international school students, they act like international school students everywhere.lol..sorta like you know they have brains, but just no sense...
"seriously, where does the sun rise?"
or
"is that london bridge?"
and we were walking along the thames.there are like probably 5 freaking bridges there..and everytime we'd pass one bridge,
wakaka but they're really funny...

funny thing about the uk is, hangers are really expensive. it costs like 7 ringgit for the wooden ones. plastic ones are almost always sold out..but then stores provide free hangers.. so now i've got hangers from marks & spencers all that places,,,,
the weather over here isn't as cold as i thought. so i haven't been wearing jackets much. in fact, i think uk's suffering from some heat wave. so happy!!

There is this concept. i call it fuck luck, which basically means really really really bad luck..
with fuck luck, one does not know whether to laugh or cry...or do both. seems that all my babes are suffering from it lately..ever since uni began..jin and her denggi episode, jesze and her splinter/luggage/*just being jesze's luck*/
and mine's just begin. i haven't even started uni yet!!
so i went to subang to meet my high school babes for the last time.as usual, i got stuck in a major jam due to some stalled truck and construction. course i'm used to it since 75% of the time, everytime i drive, there's always some stalled vehicle/accident. but this time, i took me an hour just to get past the traffic.
so by the time i reached, i was an freaking hour late for my appointment.
but it was great, seeing my babes for one last time before flying off..
"hey addie, i just parked at the parking boxes. but the yellow got painted over by some black paint. is it okay?"
"yeah sure sure it's fine"
kelly "mmmm....you better go check"
wakaka...since we're all lazy bums we sit and chat till we decide to move on to starbucks, which incidently is just opposite of where jia yi parked her car..
which of course isn't there anymore.
poor fella, her car got towed..lesson to be learned..
never park outside the tunda ss15 headquarters illegally. so we see her car inside teh car park *momo thought it was the INTI carpark and consequently wondering why hem INTI people had such a nice big carpark. course the sign "tempat letak kereta tunda MPSJ* didn't register*
after staring at her car at the tunda car park, jia yi naturally starts panicing..
kelly "maybe we should have a cup of coffee then get the car"
*notice kelly is the voice of reason.wakaka...her reason being, even getting the car out, she'd still have to find a place to park..so might as well leave it there.have a cup of coffee then come back.*
but do we listen???
nooooo....
we rush to that little tin can they call an office..it's just zinc container. while waiting, it starts pouring, really heavily. seriously really fuck luck, without an umbrella, with the car less that 100 metres away, beckoning us...and obviously i didn't want to risk getting sick before london, we were stuck staring helplessly at the car for the next fourty minutes under some zinc roof..

huhu....

oh yes pics pics...since someone was a bit upset i forgot to put her pic..*could've sworn i did *

i was way over due for one of those mother daughter talks. I finally had one today..and i was totally caught off guard..
"wan ni, you're old enough to hear this kind of things..."
and on she went..
about me not getting boyfriends when i'm in the uk
*should have told her she didn't need to worry since i don't plan on getting one anyways.guys are troublesome*
about finding a suitable guy to marry.
*i'm only nineteen!!*
oh yes and a new topic...

*don't even want to go there*

so that's all about the birds and the bees for now..

bleh, didn't cam whore as much as i'd like...sighs....

mmmm...i'm so glad most of the people i love came...

II survived Chow Kit!! nyek..when it comes to KL my dungu-ness amazes me...
i had to go pay and collect my air plane tickets today. all i had were directions to te PWTC.Since the travel agency in Jalan Putra and knowing I WOULD get lost driving around looking for it, we took a train there from mid valley.
So there I was walking in the mid morning sun roaming around Jalan Putra looking for that blasted place. At least when you get lost walking, it's easy to back track...
and then while i was walking...i realised PWTC is damn near Chow Kit..actually, it's right beside it..aih...i was walking along KL's most notorious road unknowingly. Do wonder, moi alan and i were wondering why there were so many cops about. *saw like 3 of the patrolling*..
mmm...and crazy people screaming by the riverside half naked..
It's not that i hate walking in the sun, but i hate it when i just took a bath and my hair's all clean and shiny..THEN i have to walk on roadsides..smell the smoke..get oily hair...gah! icky
so after that fiasco, we rewarded ourselves wth shogun!! besides, Japanese food is low cholestrol.even tho the first food i ate was ebi tempura.humph..i don't care..IT IS....huhu...
oh yeah, and i'm not anti-zara anymore!! the salespeople there are really awesome.so i found this coat i really really liked...but then there was only L at 1u...so seriously i mean i had to havee it lar...ish ish hopefully i don't get this urges anymore...*no more going out!* so i made them call the KLCC zara branch...
okay waited for like ten minutes...no stock..
never mind..
"how about mid valley? try mid valley"
so they did...
wohooo mid valley had my size.*smiles*
Finally met up with Rina !! Gosh....i am so gonna miss her conversations where she'd always be one topic ahead of me...she's the queen of random conversations...
Had dinner at kelantan delight at klcc...mmmm...course got significance wan....and the fact that madam blardy kwan is full...at 9pm!!! looks like the it's nasi lemak there really is fantastic...
huhu but the real reason i'm blogging today...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RU!!

Can't believe he's only fifteen....
aih...since he's in Japan at the moment,
NO presents for him!! mwahaha...
To the guy who's always there for me,
The self proclaimed love therapist,*whose always asking me to spill my love probs because..duh he can solve them!* as if,
Someone who i can tell everything to,
My exam results predictor who's pretty accurate,
Who always believes in me,
Just one look at my tear stained eyes and without a word he'd give me a spoon for Baskin Robbins,
Course being a guy, they're suckers for females in tears,
Tho he thinks he's too cool for everything,
And God's gift to humanity
But can't cook *can't even break an egg*
I'll make it my mission to domesticate you!!emm...when i domesticate myself first
Who would help me do stuff and stay up till 3 am for me,
And constantly reminds me what a good brother he is...
ish ish egoist...
someone i trust implicitly...
and love ..

idiot..

I feel old..
So i was eating with my mom today...
*eyes my fried egg*
"You better stop eating all this fried food"
*wondering why...after all this is the mother who used to feed me McDonalds every Friday*
"Huh...why?"
"Your blood tests results. Didn't you read it? You've got high cholestrol. So young some more..."
considering i got those said results last week..
*panicing...*
"why did you tell me???!!??"
course another scary thought creeps into my mind..
"how about diabetes?? do i have that???"
"no...chances are you'd get a heart attack "
yes....very comforting.
"so what else do i have to worry about?"
"you have high uric acid"
"soo??"
"you could get gout. but don't worry, it's in your genes..."
yeah..so not my fault lar...it's not my diet...my future heart probs and gout issues are due to my ancestors...
"so what can i do???"
"eat more fish..a lot more vegetable..go on a vegetarian diet.no cabbages, no kidneys, no liver, no fried food"
*obviously getting depressed*
"ha...how about ice cream???"
"cream is high in saturated fat"
so that's that..
good bye french fries..
good bye bah kut teh
good bye ice cream
good bye roasted pork
good bye hokkien mee
good bye kari ayam , ikan etc..
good bye McDonalds, KFC, Burger King
good bye Twisties Bbq
good bye Lindt milk chocolates
good bye famous amos.
good bye char kuay teow
good bye fried onions

sighs...i feel my mortality weighing down on me. gone are the days where i can eat and eat and not worry about my arteries clogging up...
ish ish..course i've always knew this day would creep up.when i'd be compelled to watch my diet.
but not so soon. never so soon...

anyways so happy border's is having a 3 for 2 offer on Haruki Murakami books!! and i've finally got my sputnik sweetheart..
i'll be saving that for the plane to UK...:P *salivating with anticipation*

mmmmmmm....today shall be about *almost* insane klang drivers and great dinners..
since one of my wishes before leaving for the uk was to go for klang bak kut teh. bleh...i've been craving malaysian food so much lately...mmm...came to a point where i had a *sorta* mission to find the best nasi kandar in kl...till my jeans started feeling tighter that is...
nyek..anyways that mission was a total failure. maybe there just isn't good nasi kandar down south. humph...the penang people don't know how good they have it..
back to the bak kut teh...paid ms tan june yin a long overdue visit. and of all days for it to rain so early in the morning, it had to be to-freakin-day.
klang on a rainy dady...cosying up in a bak kut teh stall with hot tea and yummy soup...
fantastic stuff..
till we had to walk back to the car, and i stepped into a mud puddle..my poor vinccis *who's survived overflowing drains and rainy days..now mud puddles...i'm going to retire those flip flops when i leave* and my dirty toes!
yuck..

wakaka...and we got our own authentic klang person to drive us around. of course being an authentic klang person isn't really something to shout about *tho i do love and appreciate you did that...cos you know i'd be freaking out if i had to drive in klang*
some things about klang drivers.
klang drivers conduct conversations with other cars.not really conversations but monologues..
"ooi, quick lar stupid move"
"eh why you stopping in the middle of the road"
of course it isn't really effective when the only audiences are the passengers..
klang drivers also have the tendency of beating traffic lights. road rules are merely guidelines.they take is as a given that once the light is red, one has a ten second grace period.
which was why june was really calm while i was freaking out when she so calmly beat the red light while looking at her gas tank..
there's indiscriminate blaring of the horn in weirdest situations...
and the part i love most..
pedestrians ARE always right...wakaka...mess with them and you mess with the whole town..

so alan and moi went for dinner with jesze's parents...
wakaka...her dad is damn funny.
"hey, did you know there's this old retaurant in middletown, a favourite of all the old students,it just got burned down the other day"
mmmmm..
so i'm thinking how he knows almost everything about middletown and the university..
you'd almost think he was a student at wesley...nyek...
apparently there's family forum and student blogs to get all the info from...
argh!! and i just sign my parents up for some family programme king's!!
great...i am descending into the world on constant surveillance...
on the bright side, felt so nostalgic going back there again. course they're *almost* like my second family now..*sniffle*
okaylar..i'm also damn touched..cos they gave me an ang pow, since i'm going overseas and all..
serious damn touched..
ish ish

Wohoooo I'm back from the hornbill land, the orang utan preservation place, the cat city...bla bla bla *actually there's a shop in kuching..that's really called bla bla bla..tho i don't know what it sells...=(*

all started at klia when i was damn shocked o realise that to travel to the east coast they need your ic!! okay i lied. i wasn't shocked just annoyed...anyways, the flight to kuching was only about 1 hour 45 minutes so short=sweet. haha slept most of the way..
mostly it looks like any city in the peninsular. kinda reminded me of ipoh. but much bigger..
didn't do much the first day but attempt to play tennis with my brother. *sob* the hilton doesn't have badminton courts. so tennis it was. even though my back's aching from spending two hours mostly picking up theblardy tennis balls. well the one that didn't get hit to the car park lar...

kuching does have some interesting signs..

celcom's really expanded it's territory...:P

then we hada to go to some seafood food court. the whole 'foodcourt' was actually...seafood...
sarawak is famous for its seafood..

looks really gross..
their version of ocen..mmm...the shell is like keropok...
really crispy..

Anyways, kuching was awesome!!!but i didn't have enough time to explore the state like it deserves. i mean, only one full day for sarawak!! bleh..
so i did what any self respecting ulu tourist i opted for a tour. ish ish...
it was a toss up between the bako forest reserve and the fairy caves+sarawak cultural village. but in the end leeches didn't really appeal to me..anyways what better to experience sarawak's many diverse races*so farking full of crap* than to visit the cultural village set on the foot of the scenic mount santubong. the fairy caves were just cos i've never seen real life fairies before...

it was all very peresonal tho. haha one good thing about going during off peak season, not many tourists. wakakaka...the tour i went with,it was just my brother and i * my parents totally disappeared on us...nyek..* on a 12 seater van...
both weirdly awkward and comfortable at the same time. comfortable that i don't need to make small talk with the other *potential* tourists but awkward that i have to ake small talk with the tour guide..tho nice she is, i couldn't understand her english..
and when i did try speaking to her in malay..she replied me in english!!
so in the end..the 1 hour ride to the fairy caves was spent in a blissful state of unconscioussness...

sighs...so whimsical...i can *totally* believe fairies live here..
but the truth is..
ibans used to live there..
now some chinese people go there to pray.but i honestly don't know why it's a tourist attraction..

next was the sarawak cultural village. once again..all hail to the off peak season!!okay lar..thqt place sounds lame.
iban
melanau
penan
bidayuh
orang ulu
malay
chinese
for the first time ever...
i can actually name the tribes in sarawak without resorting to secong guessing...
huhu
educational trip indeed..

at the iban long house

my favourite house..bidayuh!!

going native..almost hit the bullseye!!

with the orang ulu. totally love the wooden wall carvings...:P

melanau..

okay so all the houses were like damn nice authentic sarawakian...i mean the melanau ppl even had 3 stories!!! so when it was time to the chinese house...*so excited*

blardy hell looked like a farking tin can. i tot it was a container!!!

wakaka...so they did redeem themselves a bit..that's our chinese pavillion...

then was the 45 minute cultural show.a dance every tribe..

i liked this the best tho. it's supposed to be a melanau funeral dance, but seems very de happy. the red blur is some guy spinning on a pole...

not sure which tribe this is from. but i'm guessing it's bidayuh...

wakaka...i actually *sorta* had fun there....even better the cultural village provides homestays for tourists. you get to stay in one of those authentic houses for a night or two.sounds very appealing..tho i wonder if they have hot water..

and the real reason i came to kuching.i didn't know what i got myself into..
apparently it's my dad's university reunion. bleh...25 years after they graduated.
so they do it every five years..
what better way to spend the weekend then to chill with middle aged doctors..
at least when you die of boredom...there'll be people to resuscitate you..
but i did get to wear my dress. and was pretty fun..
watching all those people were once like me, who had hopes and dreams..
but are now *almost* fulfilled..
one's some dean, the other a champion line dancer who's competed internationally cum doctor..
can you imagine a champion line dancer doctor?
another's a psychiatrist *so cool!!!*
there's one who came in with a mansuhkan ISA badge..nyek.so DAP...
wakaka...and they played this game..get old pictures of them in uni. censor a few parts of the face. and you're supposed to guess who they were.
of course in the era of coke bottle glasses, hippy hair and black and white pictures,
it's amazing they even got it right..not on the first try tho..
nyek suppose i'll be doing that in 30 years..

then there was the part where they put family pics up and they tell each other about what's going on in their lives...what their kids are doing..how to most important thing is family..
and how i found out why my dad's so keen on uk..
more than half of the all the doctor's kids are studying in the uk..
and i so thought i was damn sesat , all alone in the uk..
but most of them are doing medicine..
so technically i'm still sesat...

with one of the medics to be..nyek..

indulge me...:P
